Windows
7 Driver Support - Part 1
An
Improvement Over Vista
There were two immediate issues with Microsoft Windows Vista when it was
released worldwide in 2007: the look and feel was different and many legacy
devices simply did not work. Non-Vista compliant device manufacturers
took one of two stances. They either scrambled to produce a compliant
device driver or folded their arms and held their breath. Many decided
to wait and see what Microsoft would do next.
To
understand the problem and the solution, it is important to understand
what drivers are. Every hardware device used on or in your computer needs
some way to communicate with the computers operating system. The “interpreter”
is called a driver. The problem was is that the “language”
changed with Vista, but the interpreters were not given a new dictionary.
The end result was that many early adopters of Windows Vista simply could
not use their sound cards, printers, scanners and other devices for which
the device manufacturer did not update the driver. After the release of
Service Pack 1 for Vista and the hurried development by some manufacturers
to develop and release drivers, some problems went away. However, now
the Windows community is wondering whether or not Windows 7 will be an
improvement with regard to device compatibility.
You
can save yourself a lot of frustration if you check to see if your hardware
and software will be compatible with Windows 7 by checking the manufacturer
website for news on this topic. If you find that some of your systems
may not work with Windows 7, you can make the decision to purchase replacement
hardware and software or postpone the Windows upgrade.

I
had my monitor for over 8 months and was never really satisfied with
the quality of picture. Then my friend told me about Driver Genius.
I run the scan and the Driver Genius installed a new, updated

Working
in the multimedia industry means I use peripherals such as high-res
monitors, printers and scanners as well as graphic and sound cards.
But being dependent on these devices also means being dependent on drivers.
Whenever a driver is outdated or invalid, the device performance suffers.
Luckily I have Driver Genius to fix this situation. I don’t have
to waste time searching for driver download files. Driver
Genius does everything and it does it fast and right – every time!

I
thought my printer has broken down... it didn’t print, it didn’t
respond at all. I almost threw it out but then I remembered to check
for drivers. I run Driver Genius Pro and voila! It
updated all my drivers and the printer was working again,
like it’s brand new!

I
bought a new PC but when I tried to hook it up with my existing monitor,
printer, mouse, ... I ran into a problem. The hardware didn’t
respond at all. I spent days and days searching the internet for drivers
that I needed. I visited manufacturers’ websites trying to locate
the right driver for each device. I wasn’t even half-way there
when I decided to give Driver Genius a try. What
a relief! It auto-detected all the devices missing drivers and it then
did the update for the missing and obsolete drivers.
It works perfectly!
